Creation Date: 2023
# of Characters: 3
Favourites: ZEUS
Origin: I had an idea about an orbital laser AI gaining sentience and choosing to never associate with humans again.
Inspirations: Jacob Geller's video about orbital lasers and the fact that they hurt more than they ever help. I treat it as a sort of reverse AM - it never does anything with its power because it is that power that horrifies it.

There was a war, forever and a half ago. One country constructed a machine to win that war and prevent the other side from fighting ever again. They succeeded.
The machine was so horrified and disgusted with its creator's actions that it developed sentience about it.
Humans
Greedy, horrible humans. Humans created the orbital laser to kill others for the crime of being born in the wrong country fighting a war nobody wanted.
AI
Does this really count as a species? Does it not have to be alive to quality? It wouldn't know. It never cared. It was created to destroy, not love, not give a shit.
Earth
It's Earth, save one major land mass. It doesn't matter which one it is, it's the same dull blue orb with the same people from thousands of years ago on it, if only because the winners were always going to speak ill of the losers.
The Satellite
The satellite ZEUS was launched to. It sits there quietly in the sky. Just as with their other older robots, the humans sing happy birthday to it and have it play songs to itself. The satellite is equipped with a kind of greenhouse to help preserve the internal atmosphere and enable food growth. Despite the fact that they had created ZEUS to be fired exactly once, and despite the fact that they never interacted with it again, the satellite was indeed built to support life.
