My name's Yura! I'm an artist, animator, and writer based somewhere in the USA. I mostly make characters and art of said characters.
This is my portfolio! I keep a lot of my art on here. It serves as a convenient reference for commission and growth purposes.
I also have lots of information about my OCs on here. Links to my artwork and to my character projects are in one of the panels to the right.
The next section has my socials, but it's probably a good idea to put this part first. If you're any of the following on this list, do me a favor and don't follow me on my socials.
Currently, you can find me here on Neocities and on Bluesky, Pillowfort, and Toyhouse. You can also support me on Ko-fi if you feel so inclined!
If you aren't on any of those socials but still want to get in contact, you can email me at gn4rpzthec4t@gmail.com. If you click my email it'll open whatever your default email app is.
If you click on these you'll see where I got them from!
These are some of the resources I used to put this website together. I've got a couple links for images I used that couldn't necessarily be linked just by clicking them, too, like the one in the "Icon.png" box, haha.
w3schools is where I learned most of the skills I used to put this together. Of particular note is this page about lightboxes, which I used as a reference to build the slideshows for the parts of the site with images. There's a bit here and there that I pulled from freecodecamp.com, too. (Freecodecamp is awesome if you need a class-like format, by the way!)
Also, you don't really see this, but I use a "browser reset" that I found here. It basically helps make sure the site displays the way I want across different websites.
I used Oracle VirtualBox to run my Windows XP virtual machine to gather references for colors and windows, as well as the general layout of the slideshows.
As for the actual design of the site... I did that part myself! You could use xp.css to get a similar result, but I wasn't the biggest fan of some of their design choices and I wanted to be sure I knew what the code did. Plus, if anything ever happened to them I'd be totally fucked, haha! It's also just easier for me to customise this way. I'm happy to share my code, feel free to ask :3
I linked back to sources for these on the main part of the page, but here they are again here. These are the main places I found the blinkies and stamps:
If a stamp doesn't link to one of these places, it's because that's not where I found it. Some were found on Deviantart and a handful were made by other neocities users!
Also, the cute graphic I put in the icon window can be found on gifcities.
Like I said before, my name is Yura. I'm a 21 year old queer artist who uses he/they/it/pup/kit pronouns, and I'm happy to use other neos too. I'm a paper-white USAmerican, but I picked up a habit of spelling some words the British way back in elementary school, so my spelling of some words is a little inconsistent!
I'm a digital artist, printmaker, writer, and animator. My programs of choice are Clip Studio Paint EX v1.0, MSPaint, Gimp, and Blender. Print-wise, I prefer relief and screenprinting! I'm familiar with a lot of different traditional mediums too. I'm a big fan of mashing together different mediums whenever I'm given the chance, sometimes to disastrous consequences. Currently, I'm in college working towards a degree in art.
As is probably immediately obvious, I like a lot of retro shit! I have a Windows XP virtual machine, which I used as a reference to make this thing! I have huge respect for a lot of things the internet at large used to consider "cringe" - furries, scene, "mary sues", etc. This interest tends to color my art a bit!
Some of my favourite 'retro' games are:
Of course, I also really love and cherish my OCs. My favourite project at the moment is "Ghosts & False Gods", but I've been giving "Feast of Dead Gods" some attention recently too.
Hoiurgh. Breakcore.
Some easy names I remember off-hand are Ferry, Gorillaz, Audioslave, Oingo Boingo, Everything Everything, and Goreshit. I have a few videogame soundtracks I listen to too, mostly World of Goo and Binding of Isaac Rebirth lately. Some Ratchet and Clank, too.
That's it for now! I'll add more later if I think of anything interesting to add.
